notog­or­go com­pl­anata lebt in stark sau­rem milieu bei einem ph-wert bis 0 (aci­do­phil). es ist ein über­aus unbe­hol­fe­nes geschöpf mit ech­tem zell­ge­we­be. der kör­per ist ange­flacht tor­pe­do­för­mig und ansatz­wei­se in kopf, rumpf und schwanz geglie­dert. die ein­fa­chen mus­kel­lap­pen des rück­sei­ti­gen schwan­zes ent­hal­ten klei­ne lipidkör­per­chen. der rumpf ist bieg­sam. sei­ne war­zen haben eine lang­ge­streck­te säu­len­form mit klei­nem quer­schnitt an der ober­flä­che, so dass sie bauch­sei­tig sehr eng bei­ein­an­der ste­hen und eine kriechsoh­le bil­den. dazwi­schen befin­den sich drü­sen­zel­len, die in der lage sind, ver­dau­ungs­en­zy­me zu syn­the­ti­sie­ren. ein aus­ge­wach­se­nes indi­vi­du­um besteht aus zel­len, die bis zu 12 ver­schie­de­nen typen zuge­ord­net wer­den kön­nen. es besitzt ein ner­ven­gift, das die beu­te lähmt. nach einer kür­ze­ren oder län­ge­ren lebens­zeit setzt ein mecha­nis­mus ein, durch den sich der orga­nis­mus selbst auf­löst (apo­pto­se).

the orga­nism notog­or­go com­pl­anata lives in a stron­gly aci­dic envi­ron­ment (ph-value as low as 0; aci­do­phi­lic). it is a quite awk­ward crea­tu­re with real cell tis­sue. the body has a flat­ten­ed tor­pe­do-shape and is slight­ly sepa­ra­ted into a head, tor­so and tail. it has a ner­vous poi­son, which para­ly­zes the vic­tims. after living for a cer­tain while, a mecha­nism is trig­ge­red, through which the orga­nism dis­sol­ves. an adult orga­nism con­sists of cells that can be assi­gned to as many as 12 dif­fe­rent types. the simp­le mus­cle lobes of the tail’s backside are flat­ten­ed and con­tain litt­le lipi­de cor­pus­cles. the tor­so is fle­xi­ble. its warts have an exten­ded, pil­lar-like shape with a litt­le cross-sec­tion on top, so that they stand very clo­se to each other on the under­si­de and form a cree­ping-sole. in bet­ween are gland-cells, which are able to syn­the­si­ze diges­ti­ve enzymes.
