sich an der schnittstelle zwischen kunst und wissenschaft bewegend, erforscht matysik zukünftige lebensformen, konstruiert organische skulpturen, untersucht und kreiert deren lebensräume. für k + s macht er quasi einen teil seines labors in form einer begehbaren installation für die ausstellungsbesucher zugänglich. die in beleuchteten schauvitrinen ausgestellten modelle setzt matysik dabei als vermittler seiner vision von einer aktiven evolution und den zukünftigen formen künstlerisch-biologischer plastik ein. damit knüpft er an wissenschaftliche visualisierungs- und modellierungsstrategien des 19. jahrhunderts an, die der visuellen erkenntnis dienten und deren anschauungsobjekten ein hohes maß an glaubwürdigkeit zugesprochen wurde. weiterhin unterstreicht matysik seine tätigkeit als forscher, indem er – in einer mit biomorphen liegemöbeln ausgestatteten videolounge – dokumentarische aufnahmen zeigt, die ihn bei seiner recherche nach lebensformen im thailändischen regenwald zeigen.
moving along the interface of art and science, matysik researches future life forms, constructs organic sculptures and investigates and creates their habitats. for k + s he makes part of his laboratory accessible so to speak to visitors of the exhibition. he thereby employs models displayed in lighted cases to convey his vision of active evolution and future forms of artistic-biological sculpture. in this way he references to the scientific visualization and modeling strategies of the 19th century that served to advance visual cognition and whose objects of demonstration were granted a high degree of credibility. matysik further highlights his activities as a researcher by screening documentary footage – showing him conducting research on life forms in the thai rainforest – in a video lounge equipped with biomorphic couches.
