03002 gliocyclus exiguus

schmächtiger schleimring

frail mucous ring

gliocyclus exiguous has developed a sonar system. contact hairs form a skin crest at the edge of a simple membrane. in this life-form the shell-like structure as the basis for all life, becomes visible. the organism constructs a cave and excretes large amounts of mucus. with time, the mucus and the organism dry into a thin cocoon, which protects the organism during its resting phase. at the top of the cocoon there is a small opening which the organism keeps free. this opening ends in a funnel, which runs through the organism and enables it to absorb oxygen. depending on the temperature, it spends several months in this state. through the survival strategy of excreting mucus for a proctective cocoon, it can survive for several years in this state.
